Minecraft lags when opening inventory

Fixing Minecraft lag when opening inventory in just easy steps: Step One: Get rid of all those other applications running in the background by going through each taskbar icon one at a time and closing everything nonessential from there as well as resizing windows that might have gotten too big over time and are now using up precious RAM.

Hey guys. I’ve been experiencing some pretty serious lag when opening my inventory or opening a chest. At most times it works fine, but at others it can take 10-20 seconds or even a minute to exit or enter my inventory. I’d also like to mention that sometimes if I look down below me on far distance the game seriously lags (0-1 fps; I’m usually at …

If you have already performed troubleshooting steps such as re-installing your game, and you have not received favorable results, I would have to recommend that you visit the Minecraft Forums as we here on the Xbox Forums do not have the necessary tools to assist you with anything in-game related. I hope this is of some use to you.

I had the same problem that my game just lagged out for 1-2 seconds after opening any inventory (chests, machines, my inventory, etc.). Try switching from the twitch launcher to MultiMC and download and install your pack there.

This happens because InventoryCloseEvent is fired before the inventory actually closes to allow cancelling. So you were trying to open another inventory while one was already open causing the event to fire infinitely in a loop. Adding a delay of 1 tick prevents this. Glad to see you solved it yourself already.

I tried installing optifine and it didn’t help my problem but the lag meter showed my cpu and ram usage were fine, and didn’t react at all when I would try to open an inventory, until the freeze where thered be a spike of lag for a tiny bit and then the inventory would open up.

The lag lasts for about 5 seconds most of the time, though its lasted as long as 20 seconds, and it gets especially bad if I open my inventory just for a moment (say, accidently) and immediately close it again. Its gotten to the point where I will plan my actions in advance to minimize the number of times I need to open up an inventory.

Why does my inventory freeze when I open it?

Why does my inventory take so long to load?

Having shulker boxes with items in it seems to also cause the problem, with more items = more delay. It mostly seems that the inventory has trouble managing excess amounts of information. I hope i’ve provided enough information.

Why does my inventory take so long to reproduce?

The likely cause seems to be having too much information for the inventory to manage, and not enough optimization. Likely related to MCPE-32150 Steps to Reproduce: Potentialy can be recreated by having items with too many enchants within your inventory.
