You could just put your seed into mineatlas (web based) and note down the coords of all “nearby” mesas, go there and see if there are the badlands variant present, or head on over to the next contender. (Mineatlas is developed for minecraft 1.8, newer biomes arent visible on the map, but the general map generation hasnt changed much.

Copy your seed then head over to If you can remember what the surrounding terrain and biomes were like, that might help you find it.
