Minecraft already does auto save. I’m not sure when it does exactly, but one obvious time is when you die. If your having trouble with crashes, I have two solutions: 1) pause the game for a moment and it will force a save. it might be faster to save and quit to title and re-enter the world sometimes though. 2) create backups now and then.
