Simply so, can a fart set off a gas detector?
Farts do actually contain methane, the same gas found in natural gas, and yes it's explosive in the right concentration. In my experience, farting close to it will set off the CO detector part of it.
Also, why does my propane detector keep going off? If it does it is a sure sign that your RV has a propane leak and should be leak checked and repaired by a certified RV Technician. Take a look at the short video below for some more information on RV Propane Detectors and a simple method to quickly test the detector.
Herein, what can set off a gas detector?
The Natural Gas Detector will only detect the presence of natural gas. It will not detect fire, heat, smoke, or the presence of any other gases, including carbon monoxide (CO).
Can propane set off a smoke detector?
Most smoke detectors will not detect gas stove leak. Because natural gas are totally different not like carbon monoxide. Most fire detectors will detect carbon monoxide rather than natural gas. I had one go off when my propane stove was on then blew out.
